Birchfield, 69, Enid, were 10 a.m. today at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Richard Dunn officiated. Burial followed at Forrest Cemetery, Ringwood. Mr. Birchfield died Sept. 10, 2002, at Enid. He was born Oct. 3, 1932, at McAlester to Bill and Cleo Phillips Birchfield. He grew up in southeast Oklahoma. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Rose Birchfield, Ringwood; four sons, Roy Lynn Birchfield, Texas, Allen Birchfield, Enid, Delbert Birchfield, Montana, and Bob Birchfield, Enid; three daughters, Paula Detrick, Lahoma, Bonnie Bunch, Kansas, and Jami Birchfield, Ringwood; four sisters, Regina Kersey, Oklahoma, Mildred Dollar, Maryland, Joyce Hooker, Nevada, and Melba Birchfield, Ada; and 12 grandchildren. He was born Jan. 14, 1947, at Mountainair, N.M. to J.B. Hood Sr. and Pearlene Steele Hood. He attended Vanoss High School, Seminole Junior College, and East Central University. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. He received the Navy Unit Commendation, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He was employed at Ideal Cement Co. in Ada for 16 years as a production manager. He later relocated to Capital Cement Co. in Martinsburg, W. Va., for two and one half years. He retired in 1994 from LaFarge Cement Co. in Metropolis, Ill. He was a member of Center Free Will Baptist Church and the American Legion. He married Zana Jean Tuley March 16, 1947 in Wewoka. Survivors include his wife, Zana Jean Hood, of the home; five daughters, Andrea Archer, Pam Welch, Terri Sellon and Carla Miller, all of Ada, and Lisa Nail, Oklahoma City; two sons, Jay Tuley, Ada, and Russell Tuley, Amarillo, Texas; her mother, Pearlene Hood, Ada; two brothers, Bill Hood, Moore, and Donald Hood, Paoli; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Brandi Ott and Amanda Martin. She was born Oct. 6, 1929, at Sulphur to Herbert and Ruby Fussell Herring. She graduated from Roff High School and attended East Central University. She married Ralph "Rudy" Lunsford June 14, 1947, at Ada. He died March 25, 1983. She moved from the Ada area to Seminole in 1947. She was employed by Sun Oil Co., from which she retired from in 1984. She was affiliated with the Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Lunsford. Survivors include a son, Randy Lunsford, Seminole; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter. Mr. Russell died Sept. 11, 2002, at an Ada hospital. He was born March 26, 1918, at Paris, Texas, to William Franklin and Frances Elizabeth Cooper Russell. He married Inez Margaret Roulston Jan. 14, 1939, at Konawa. She died Dec. 17, 1993. A longtime Konawa resident, Mr. Russell was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Seminole County District 1 for more than 40 years. He was a rancher and was affiliated with the Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Russ Flora. Survivors include two sons, Frank Russell, Konawa, and Ron Russell, California; a daughter, Dixie Flora, Midland, Mich.; a sister, Lucille Hodges, Oklahoma City; two brothers, Doake Russell, Texas, and Jesse Russell, Konawa; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Galey Golfing Club. He was born Nov. 10, 1910, near Russellville, Ark., to Andrew Jackson and Tamsie Lucinda Simpson Hudson. He attended schools at Cook and Galey in western Pontotoc County and Horace Mann and Byng. He was the chief of building and maintenance at East Central University from 1950 until 1972. Previously, he had owned a furniture store in Seminole in 1941 and began Hudson's Furniture in Ada in 1951. He was a member of Lovelady Baptist Church and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1944 until the end of the war. He served in Guam. He married Luretha Eppler in 1932. She preceded him in death April 10, 1999, at Ada. Survivors include three sons, Ted Hudson and Ken Hudson, both of Ada, and Tommy Hudson, Eufaula; two daughters, Becky Clinton, Norman, and Paula Howry, Ardmore; three sisters, Recy Hicks, Alturas, Calif., Mary Roberts, Shawnee, and Vercie Bryant, Oklahoma City; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. She graduated from Roff in 1930, and attended East Central University. She earned a bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University in 1940 and attended graduate school at Southern Methodist University at Dallas. She taught school for 30 years at Grand Prairie Elementary School at Grand Prairie, Texas, retiring in 1972. She was affiliated with Roff First United Methodist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as past worthy matron. She was also a member of Roff Homemakers and Quilting clubs. She married Edward Paul Tingle Dec. 11, 1929, at Roff. Survivors include her husband Edward, of the home; a son, Edward Price Tingle; two grandchildren; and four grandchildren. She was raised in the Wewoka and Holdenville areas, attending school in Wewoka for 11 years and later graduating from Holdenville High School. She attended East Central University and received her bachelor's degree in accounting and later received her master's degree in business education with 11 teaching endorsements. She married Kenneth L. Conn, April 5, 1968, at Holdenville. She was employed with the Hughes County Health Department, where she worked as a public information officer. She was also an adjunct professor at Seminole State College for four years. She was a long-time member of Barnard Memorial Baptist Church. She was a retired assistant chancellor of the University of Missouri. Mrs. Butler was affiliated with the Methodist church and was a member of Eastern Star. Survivors include two daughters, Jo Lynn Roberson, Dothan, Ala., and Marie Butler Brand, St. Louis, Mo.; a son, Leonard Butler Jr., Coalgate; a grandson; and three great-grandchildren. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945 in the Signal Corps. He had tours in North Africa, Italy, Germany and France. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. After his service in the military, he worked as a taxi cab driver at Davis from 1945 until he was about 60 years old. He retired from the Davis Volunteer Fire Department in the mid-1970s. Survivors include his wife, Pauline, Davis; two daughters, Vicki Broaddrick, Ardmore, and Jana Broaddrick, Oklahoma City; two sisters, Ina Harris, Rowlett, Texas, and Juanita Easter, Sulphur. Mothe Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MICHAEL COTNER KONAWA -Graveside services for Michael Andrew Cotner, 88, Konawa, are 2 p.m. Monday at Konawa City Cemetery, the Rev. Drew Isaacs officiating. Mr. Cotner died Sept. 28, 2002, at a local hospital. He was born Aug. 25, 1914, at Bartlesville to David F. and Lillian K. Cotner. He married Opal Pendergrass Sept. 25, 1933, at Bristow. She died Jan. 27, 2000. He married Mohana Bower January 2000. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1936 with a degree in petroleum engineering. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ardmore and was a 32nd degree Mason. He worked for City Service Oil Company for 15 years, Ashland Oil and Refining Company for nine years and Frankford Oil Company for five years. He was an independent oil and gas producer for the last several years. Survivors include his wife, Mohana Cotner, of the home; a daughter, Betty Belk, Brandon, Miss.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The family says those who wish may make contributions to the Lupus Foundation.
