She was born July 26, 1939, at the community of Leader to George W. and Ora Bruner Colbert. She attended Tupelo schools. She married Earnest Coburn in 1954 at Oklahoma City. He died in 1960. She was formerly employed as a nurse's aide in an Oklahoma City nursing facility. Survivors include a son, Dianté Coburn, Ada; a sister, Lorene Brown, Ada; a brother, the Rev. She was a lifelong resident of this area. She attended Ada schools and graduated from Ada High School. She married Harold W. Blackburn on April 30, 1938, at Shawnee. He died April 26, 2001, at Ada. She was a legal secretary for Kerr, Lambert and Conn Attorneys for many years. Mrs. Blackburn was a longtime member of Southwest Church of Christ and was among the original members of the Southwest congregation when it began in 1948. She taught the fourth grade Sunday school class for many years. Survivors include a daughter, Diane Blackburn Criswell, Ada. Mr. Bullington died Dec. 17, 2002, at an Ada hospital. He was born Aug. 18, 1913, at Cord, Ark., to James and Althea Susan Hensley Bullington. He married Ruby Fox Aug. 10, 1983, at Eufaula. Mr. Bullington served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a retired welder and served as mayor of Konawa and on the Konawa City council. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Konawa and a 32nd-degree Mason. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Lee Bullington, 1970. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in astronomy from Oklahoma State University. Mr. Hartsfield was very active in 4-H and the Coalgate chapter of the Future Farmers of America. He served as southeastern Oklahoma district vice president. He was a state farmer and a member of the National Honor Society throughout high school. He was president of the competitive parliamentary procedures team and was reserve breed champion-Poland China breed at the Oklahoma City Show. He also served as page for the Oklahoma House of Representatives. He married Melanie Jane Ward Oct. 18, 2002. He was a farmer and was owner/operator of Hartsfield Mokin-Bakin Farms, located near Clarita. He served in the Philippines where he received the Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon under the point system. He was honorably discharged June 2, 1946, Seaman First Class SV-6. He married Kathleen Turpin Aug. 5, 1948. Mr. Raney was a tool and die maker for LTV for 18 years. He built Ranger boats at Flippin, Ark., for 15 years. Mr. Raney was a member of Church of Christ, Allen. He moved from Verden to Yukon in 1992 before relocating to Ada in 1995. Mr. Buchanan married Evelyn V. Earley Aug. 21, 1949, in the Sickles community in Caddo County. Mr. Buchanan served as a seaman second class in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He enlisted July 12, 1943, and was discharged Dec. 28, 1943. He was a farmer and was affiliated with First Baptist Church, Verden. Sheila Jackson officiating. American Legion Post 242 and Veterans of Foreign War Post 1198 will conduct military honors at the cemetery. Mr. Blevins died Dec. 18, 2002, at his home. He was born May 15, 1945, at Centrahoma to William and Effie Craig Blevins. He had lived in the Centrahoma area his entire life and attended Centrahoma schools. He graduated from Tupelo High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. Mr. Blevins married Linda Humphries Nov. 1, 1963, in Oklahoma. He was head custodian at Coalgate Schools until his retirement. Mr. Blevins was a member of the VFW and the Jesus Name Mission in Olney, and was a former mayor of Centrahoma. He was preceded in death by two sons and a daughter, Melody Blevins, Sept. 5, 2002. Survivors include his wife, Linda Blevins, of the home; two daughters, Effie Johnson, Coalgate, and LaSandra Johnson, Centrahoma; two sisters, Mary White, Tupelo, and Dorothy Turner, Shawnee; a brother, Arthur Blevins, Enid; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Mr. Leighton died Dec. 14, 2002, at Madill. He was born Sept. 16, 1944, at Fort Sill to Deane and Lila Davis Leighton. He lived most of his life in Ada. He served in the U.S. Army for six years. Mr. Leighton married Lora Lee Jones July 17, 1990, at Eureka Springs, Ark. He worked as administrator for Marshall County Home Health, and as a manager for Feed Store and More. He was also owner of Roc-On Trucking. He was a Methodist. Survivors include his wife, Lora Lee Jones Leighton, Madill; his parents, Deane and Lila Leighton, Ada; a son, Gregory Jones, Madill; three daughters, Shelly Kamp, Ada, Kimberly Jones Kuykendall, Madill, and Amy Jones Goedecke, Whitesboro; a brother, Romaine Leighton, Ada; a sister, Pam Vestal, Yukon; and six grandchildren. She spent her early life in Waurika and later moved to Sulphur. She worked in housekeeping at Artesian Nursing Home and had resided in Shawnee for the past year. She was born Feb. 20, 1922, at Gaar Corner to Noel and Velma Irwin McNair. She lived in this area all of her life and graduated from Ada High School in 1940. She married Frank Carriger March 3, 1938, at Ada. She was a homemaker and had previously worked as a receptionist for Dr. Miller and as a cashier at Dutch's Grocery. She was a lifelong member of Ada Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include her husband, Frank Carriger, of the home; two daughters, Charlotte Kay Carriger, Ada, and Linda Starkey, Moore; a sister, Betty Bevel, Waxahachie, Texas; and a granddaughter. Hook on Dec. 23, 1935, at Atoka. Mrs. Hook retired on April 1, 1982, from the University of Oklahoma as an assistant housing supervisor. She had lived in Wapanucka since relocating from Noble in 1982. She was a Baptist. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Hook; a son, Doyle Hook; a daughter, Barbara Maxey; and two grandsons, Alan and Keith Hook. Survivors include two sons, James C. Hook, Wapanucka, and Jerald L. Hook, Norman; three daughters, Wanda Staggs, Balch Springs, Texas, Linda Butler and Sandra Kay Rosario, both of Grand Prairie; 18 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. The Rev. David Burris officiated the services. Mr. Risinger died Dec. 6, 2002, at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born at Odessa, Texas. He graduated from Walters High School and moved to Moore in 1979. He later graduated from Cameron College with a degree in education. Mr. Risinger began his teaching career in Lakeview and then taught for 29 years with the Moore Public School System. He also taught class at night and during the summer at Oklahoma City Community College. He married Helinda Hall at Ada. Survivors include his wife, Helinda Hall Risinger, of the home; a son, Zak Risinger, Moore; and two sisters, Sharon Davis, Odessa, and Dana Farrell, Katy, Texas. Valerian Gonsalves officiating. Burial follows at Coalgate Cemetery. Mrs. Avanzini died Dec. 21, 2002, at Coalgate. She was born Oct. 20, 1908, at Glenwood, Ark., to Charles B. Hubbert and Rilzia Wisner. She was a homemaker and Catholic. She married Joseph C. Avanzini May 18, 1936. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Knapple, and a son, R.C. Jones. Survivors include six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great- great-grandchildren. She was born Sept. 8, 1914, at Killcrease Hill, east of Francis, to Charlie and Emma Killcrease Punluste. She had lived in this area all her life. She was a homemaker and member of High Hill Baptist Church. She married Houston Stick Sr. He died Oct. 1, 1973. She was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Edgar Frazier and Matthew Carpenter, and a great- grandson, Cody Frazier. Survivors include two sons, Houston Stick Jr., Ada, and Bill Stick, Ardmore; six daughters, Semmie Stick, Martha Hawkins, Vergie Frazier and Frankie Miller, all of Ada, Velma Frazier, Allen, and Barbara Carpenter, Tulsa; 28 grandchildren; and 50 great-grandchildren.
