Submitted by Rita Floyd. -------------------------------------------------------- Tuesday, June 10, 2003 RUTH GROVE HUNTER Ruth Grove Hunter, died peacefully Saturday, June 7, 2003 at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada. Born February 1, 1915 in Hugo, OK to John & Esther Marshall Grove, she grew up in Hugo. She attended East Central State Teachers College for three years before transferring to the University of Oklahoma from which she graduated. While teaching in the Ada Public Schools, she met James H. (Jamie) Hunter of Ada and they married in 1942. Jamie preceded her in death in 1989. Mrs. Hunter was an accomplished teacher of young children, teaching at Glenwood, Horace Mann and Hayes during a span of four decades. She was active in the First United Methodist Church of Ada for over 60 years and was a member of its Douglas Bible and Fortnightly Study Clubs. While at OU she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Her family included sister, Mary Jane Muntz, Ada, son John Hunter and daughter- in-law, Joan Hunter of Oklahoma City and daughter Katherine Brazaitis and Son- in-law Joseph Brazaitis of Corte Madera, California, plus grandchildren Carrie Hunter, David Hunter, Edward Hunter and Eric Hunter and by nephew Bruce Omohundro, niece Ruth Ann Cross and their families. She was a true servant of the Lord and will be forever held in our hearts. Services will be held at 11:00 on Tuesday, June 10, at the First United Methodist Church of Ada under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home.
