J. W. Lloyd died at his home here on the morning of February 14, after an illness of flu and other complications. He was 74 years of age and had lived in Francis and Pontotoc county for many years. He was the father of seven daughters, six of whom are living, and they with the wife and mother are left to mourn his death. Born in Virginia, he received his education and entered the Southern Methodist ministry in early manhood, coming to the Indian Territory and Oklahoma as a missionary more than 35 years ago, serving as pastor, presiding elder and other church capacities during these years. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church, Rev. B. L. Williams, of Seminole and Rev. Hornsby officiating. Interrment (sic) was at Cedar Grove. In his passing, another landmark has been erased, and his struggles and triumphs are now only memories to those who loved him and knew him best. A Card of Thanks We are herewith extending our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to our many good friends for their kind services and sympathy in the illness and death of our husband and father. To the members of the choir, the pianist, the ministers’ words and prayers of consolation, to Mrs. Fannie Bean for the beautiful pot of geraniums, the numerous boxes of fragrant flowers sent by friends from Oklahoma City and for all other tokens of service and sympathy we are extremely grateful, and only hope that such friends may be yours when sadness darkens your lives and hearts. Mrs. J. W. Lloyd and family
