During her short life Lynette gladly did her bit in contributing to the happiness and comfort of those about her, her sincere and practical disposition, remarkable for one her age, made her a favorite with both young and old. She was a faithful and diligent pupil and had almost reached the seventh grade in school. The quantities of flowers send by her school mates to be placed upon the casket bore pathetic testimony to their affection. Lynette was a very patriotic little girl and took the greatest interest in the progress of the war. She was an enthusiastic member of the Junior Red Cross and was corresponding with a captain in France. She prized his letters as her greatest treasures. No one was more delighted than she when the bells and whistles announced that the war was over. She kept a little American flag upon her bed during her last illness and had been playing with it a few minutes before she passed quickly and painlessly away from heart failure. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Hefley Wednesday, November 20, and the body laid to rest in the Cedar Grove cemetery.
