Date of editions are given at beginning of each section. -------------------------------------------------------- Ada Evening News Paid Obituaries -------------------------------------------------------- Tuesday, September 9, 2003 GENEVA MARTIN Geneva Martin, 85, died Sept. 04, 2003 during the final stage of Alzheimer’s Disease at Holy Family Assisted Living Home. She was born Nov. 20, 1917 at Terlton, Ok to parents Bob and Osa Rogers. She raised her family in Odessa, Texas and from 1950 to 1966 in Moab, Utah. Geneva and her husband moved to Alaska in 1966. She worked as manager of JD’s Bar B-Q Pit on Old Seward Hwy until she retired in 1972 and moved to Oklahoma. She returned to Alaska to be with her children in 1997. She is survived by her son, Leonard (Marty) Martin of Anchorage; daughters Peggy Fugate of Idaho Fall, Id., Barbara Long-Williams of Eagle River, Judi Donaldson of Seward, Ak.; Sister, Allene Phelps of Stratford, OK; brother, Tom Meadows of Moab, Utah; grandchildren, Keith Martin, Sheri Long, Gina Hendricks, Derinda Hopkins, Mitzi Lambert, Karla Ferguson and Dorinda Martin. She has 13 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews Deborah Phelps, Deon Phelps and John Phelps Jr. of Stratford. Peggy Jo Tiemann of Atlanta, Ga. and Rock E. Phelps of Wasilla, Ak. She was preceded in death by husband, L.E. Martin; brothers Charles Rogers, Leo (Bud) Meadows and grandson Ray Long. Interment services will be Sept 11 at 10:00 a.m. at Swan Hill Cemetery, Ada, Ok. Arrangements by Pickard Funeral Home, Stratford, OK. Everyone, young and old called her "Nannie." She was our problem-solver, our confidante, our friend. Very strong willed, hard-working, energetic and had a fantastic sense of humor. She lived for her family and we lived for her.
