Thompson, 91, Norman, formerly of Ada, are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Jerry Billingsley officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery, Ada. Mrs. Thompson died Nov. 22, 2002, at a Norman nursing facility. She was born June 10, 1911, at Hickory to William S. Mitchell and Cora Corbin. She came to this area as a child from Hickory. She graduated from Ada High School and attended East Central State College. She worked many years at Hill & Shipe Shoes and was later a homemaker. She married Bobby Thompson in October 1954 at Fort Worth, Texas. He died at Ada in 1981. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ada for 50 years. She later became an active member at Bethel Baptist Church in Norman. Survivors include three sons, Ronald Thompson and Paul Thompson, both of Norman, and Bob Thompson, Ada; four grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren. She grew up in Oklahoma City, graduated from Grant High School and moved to Sulphur in 1989 from Newcastle She married Ronal Newton Oct. 24, 1961, at Stillwater. She was a homemaker and was affiliated with Chickasaw Trail Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by a son, David Lynn. Survivors include her husband, Ronal Newton, Sulphur; two sons, Dwayne Newton, Derby, Kan., and Shawn Newton, Duncan, Kan.; her father and stepmother, E.C. and Lucille Collinsworth, Oklahoma City; two brothers, Charles Collinsworth and Troy Collinsworth, both of Oklahoma City; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Commodore C. Stone; a son, Donald L. Dobyns; a daughter, Nancy Osborne; a grandson, Timothy A. Watts; and a great- grandson Shawn Dobyns. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Francis Goodall and Martha Virginia Cunningham. He lived in Dallas and Denton, Texas area for several years. He moved back to Sulphur a few years ago. She was a housewife and grew up in Texas. She moved to Sulphur about 12 years ago. She married James Cagle May 11, 1964, at Alvarado, Texas. She was an Episcopal and member and past worthy matron of the Eunice, N.M. chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a Rainbow Mother for many years. She was also a bookkeeper for a rental house management firm. She married Odell Pittmon at Hobbs. He died at Burnett, Texas, in 1986. He was born May 4, 1913, at Alderson to John B. and Anna Woodall Sanders. He came to this area with his family as a young child. He was employed by Thomas Concrete and Pipe Co. and later Ada Block Co., retiring in 1975 after 45 years of service. He married Jessie McCracken Feb. 11, 1933. Survivors include his wife, Jessie Sanders, of the home; four daughters, Geneva Jamar, Erma Williams, Wilma Jo Sanders and Joyce Pittman, all of Ada; four sons, Jim Sanders, Jacksboro, Texas, Johnny Sanders, Ada, Robert Sanders, Oklahoma City, and Edward Sanders, Arp, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 30 great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was born May 11, 1941, at Beaver Mountain to Mack Lee and Ollie Spears. He attended school before joining the U.S. Army Reserves, where he served for four years. He was called to active duty, serving at Fort Sill, Fort Hood and Munich, Germany. He also served in the Army Reserves for four years during the Vietnam War. He was also a member of the Oklahoma National Guard from 1976 to 1979. He later attended auto mechanic and welding school for two years at Eastern Oklahoma State College at Wilburton, working in construction for Zachary and Daniel Construction at Fort Howard Paper Plant at Muskogee. He owned and operated the Boy Howdy Stores in McAlester and Ada from 1988 until 1996, when he retired. He married Neva Smith in 1966 He was preceded in death by a daughter, Samantha Jo Adams, Nov. 20, 2002. Survivors include his wife, Neva Spears, McAlester; three daughters, Dawn Simonetti, Eufaula, Chadette Hernandez, Tahlequah, and Misty Spears, Dillsboro, Ind.; two sons, Chris Spears, Stonewall, and Shane Spears, Oklahoma City; his mother, Ollie Norrid, Quinton; two sisters, Peggy Caudle, Okmulgee, and Judy Irby, Blanchard; two brothers, Sonny Spears, Quinton, and Ed Norrid, Keota; and seven grandchildren. She graduated from McAlester High School in 1996 and from East Central University at Ada in 2000, receiving a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. She was a member of the first graduating class of the Oklahoma Police Corps in 2001 and joined Ada Police Department Oct. 21, 2001. She was a member of the Ada Fraternal Order of Police 111 and the Christian Fellowship Holiness Church of North McAlester. She was born May 9, 1909, at Snyder to Bruce and Laura Bell Morrow Varner. She worked as a telephone operator in Oklahoma and California during the 1920s. She married Lester Clinton Miers on Feb. 9, 1930, at Henrietta. He died April 10, 1988. She was a member of the Ladies Home Demonstrators Club and was active in the visitation of those who were sick at local hospitals. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ada and Holy Family Catholic Church since 1990. She is preceded in death by three grandchildren. Survivors include a son, Nicholas R. Wilson on Oct. 19, 1946, at Norman. She and her husband were co-owners of Wilson Drug from May 1965 until 1973. They later owned Wilson's Doctor's Park Pharmacy from 1973-1992. She was born June 27, 1936, at Wolf to Weitna and Lilly Davis Carpitcher. She attended grade school at Wolf and later attended Chilloco Indian School in Lawrence, Kan. She married Newton Cass March 10, 1972. He died Feb. 1, 1993, at Ada. Mrs. Cass came to this area in 1985 from Seminole County. She was a former Seminole Nation executive secretary. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Ada, and the Chi-Ka-Sha Association. She was a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school treasurer, Bible Mission teacher, Vacation Bible School assistant and the van ministry treasurer. She was preceded in death by a grandchild. Newby on March 18, 1934, at Stratford. He died June 28, 2002, at Ada. Mrs. Newby was a licensed minister and worked alongside her husband in the Church of God. She was owner-operator of Cleo's Fruit Stand at Union Hill and also sold garden produce at Farmer's Market. She was a member of the Church of God. She was preceded in death by a great-great-granddaughter, Marissa Ashlee-Marie Turner. Survivors include a daughter, Denzil Keeling, Ada; two sons, Dearl Newby and Jerrell Lynn Newby, both of Ada; three sisters, Hazel L. Mrs. Ferris died Nov. 26, 2002, at her home. She was born Aug. 25, 1928, in Kansas to Paul B. and Gussie Myers Hardison. She moved to Oklahoma at an early age and graduated from Bromide High School. She married Joe F. Ferris Nov. 30, 1949, at Clarksville, Ark. He died April 20, 1994. Mrs. Ferris worked for many years as an in-home caregiver to the elderly. She was a member of Pontotoc Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, David Ferris and Pat Ferris, both of Connerville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. James died Nov. 27, 2002, at Kingsland. She was born April 20, 1899, at Rockwall, Texas, to E.H. and Lillian B. McKoy McKendree. She married Albert Joseph Hacker. He died in 1936. She married Robert L. James in 1946 at Carlsbad, N.M. He died Aug. 22, 1978, at Ada. Mrs. James was a retired school teacher. She was a member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by three sons, Jerome Mack Hacker, 1946, Joseph Hacker, 1997, and Robert James, 1997. Survivors include a son, Don James, Kingsland; 11 grandchildren; 19 great- grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-great- grandchildren. Bearers are Don King, Henry Johnson, Tom Berry, Gary Logan, Mike King and Ian Smith. He married Frances M. Purcell March 16, 1939, at St. Louis, Mo. She died March 2001. During the 1930s he was co-owner of a trucking business transporting goods throughout Mexico, the United State and Canada. He also worked in the petroleum industry. He resided in Illinois, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, the Dakotas and Canada. He lived in Ada from 1981-1999 until moving to Manhattan. He was a member of the El Kalah Shrine Temple of Salt Lake City, Utah, and was a 32nd-Degree Mason. Survivors include a son, Charles W. King, Manhattan; a daughter, Patricia King, Manhattan; and three grandchildren. The family says those who wish may make memorials to the William C. He graduated from Tishomingo High School in 1927 and Oklahoma A&M College in 1932. He married Louise Maurine Webber Sept. 22, 1935, at Perry. She died Jan. 12, 1993. He served in World War II in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1946, stationed at Pearl Harbor, Waikiki, Guam and Okinawa. He also served in the Oklahoma National Guard from 1947-1950. He was a charter member of the Atoka Lions Club and a longtime member, board member and treasurer of the First Christian Church, Atoka. He was a banker at Tishomingo and Atoka since 1933. Survivors include a son, Charles McCall, Atoka; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He married Johnnie Walker at Texas in 1980. Mr. Parker served eight years in the U.S. Air Force. After returning home, he worked as a Kirby vacuum cleaner salesman. He was later employed as a security guard at the Uniroyal Plant, Ardmore, and Wal-Mart SuperCenter, Sulphur, in the lawn and garden center. Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Parker, of the home; a son, Chris Parker, Marietta; a brother, Paul Parker, Calif.; and two grandsons. She was born Feb. 10, 1917, at Union Valley to John Wesley and Ruby Queen Adams Murphy. She lived in this area all her life and was a 1937 graduate of Stonewall High School. She married Jerry Scott Dec. 12, 1944, at Coalgate. He died March 30, 1990, at Stonewall. She was a homemaker and a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Terry Scott, Ada; a daughter, Peggy Krebbs, Ada; a sister, Effie Scott, Ada; three brothers, Horace Murphy and J.W.
