Submitted by Rita Floyd. -------------------------------------------------------- Tuesday, July 8, 2003 AMBER VANGUNDY ADA - Services for Amber Vangundy, 23, Ada, OK, will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at Trinity Baptist Church, Ada. The Pastor Mike Frederick and Bryan Harwell officiating. Burial follows at Memorial Park. God sent his angels to receive Amber to be with him on Saturday, July 5, 2003. She was presented as a gift from God to David Wayne Vangundy and Dianne Giulioli Vangundy on December 17, 1979, at Fort Smith, Arkansas. She attended Byng Public Schools, graduated as an honor student in 1998. Amber was blessed with a daughter, Saylor Robyn-Dyan Smith, June 15, 2000. Shortly after her daughter's birth, she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Amber continued to be a full time mom, maintained her education through Liberal Arts Studies at East Central University, and was instrumental in experimental clinical trials for the treatment of colorectal cancer. Amber appeared on "The Today Show" with Katie Couric on behalf of The Sunshine Foundation. Survivors include her daughter, Saylor, of the home; her mother, Dianne Vangundy, Ada; her father, David Vangundy, and wife, Jeanette Folger Vangundy, Ada; a sister, Kelcey Nicole Vangundy, Ada; grandparents, Patrick Giulioli and Arlene Mumford Giulioli, Okmulgee; Hilda Oberle Druckamiller, Corsicana, Texas; Jeff Vangundy, Sr., and Ann Vangundy, Lavaca, Arkansas; great-grandmother, Katherine Kelly Giulioli, Okmulgee, OK. Preceded in death by Great-Grandmother, Bessie Hardgrave, Henryetta, Florence Vangundy, Clayton, Indiana; great-grandfathers, Carl Vangundy, Clayton, Indiana, Louis Giulioli, Okmulgee; Jay Mumford, Henryetta; Jimmy Hardgrave, Henryetta; grandfather, Norman DruckamilIer, Corsicana, Texas. Bearers are Amy Greer, Johnny Carter, Kelly Giulioli, Jeff Vangundy, Jr., Michael Blaylock, Larry Mitchell and Alan Babb. Honorary bearers are aunts, Dana Henson, Dawn Hobbs, Katy Giulioli, and Lynn Tesmer; uncles, Tommy Hobbs, Damron Henson, and Randy Tesmer.
