A large tent had been erected on the lawn of the home and dinner was served picnic style. An abundance of food was served. The day was spent in visiting and Mrs. Cornish presented an heirloom gun that was the property of her husband, John Cornish Sr., who founded the town of Cornish, to her grandson, Billy Bob Cornish, who is entering the service soon. The presentation of the gun to Billy Bob recalled to mind of the family, many interesting rememberances of the early days of Southern Oklahoma, when Billy Bob's grandfather was a resident here. The reunion marked the birthday of Mrs. Cornish, who is some improved from an extended illness. Her host of friends throughout Southern Oklahoma are glad to know she can walk some now. Among the guests in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. John Cornish, Sr., and sons, Mrs. H. P. Gordon, Mrs. J. H. Hieronymus, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cornish, Healdton; Mr. and Mrs. Melton Griffin and family, Wilson; Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Dunlap, Ardmore; Dr. and Mrs. T. W. Dowdy, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Chipman, and children, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Denham, Oklahoma City, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wood and Mrs. Lela O'Neal, Shawnee -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Pottawatomie County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/pottawatomie/pottawatomie.htm
