All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Riverview Cemetery--Brawley CA Violet Blankenship Aug. 26, 1907 - Feb. 13, 2007 Violet Blankenship, 99, of Brawley, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, February 13, 2007. Born on August 26, 1907 in Bellemont, Okla., Violet was the oldest of 10 children born to parents Claud and Susanna Rider. Violet Rider married Howell Kenneth Blankenship in 1930. They moved to Brawley in 1935 where they raised their family and where Mrs. Blankenship worked in the Central Supply Department and Emergency Room at Pioneers Memorial Hospital until she retired in 1973. Violet had passion for cooking and enjoyed traveling to visit family. Family favorites were her fried chicken and peach cobbler. The family has been privileged to be blessed with his wonderful woman for almost 100 years. She will be remembered as a beloved mother and grandmother. Gravesides services will be held Saturday, February 17 at 12 p.m. at Riverview Cemetery in Brawley with Reverend Bill Impey of Grace Chapel in Mira Mesa officiating. She was preceded in death by her husband Howell Kenneth Blankenship on July 9, 1978. Violet is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Joyce and Marvin Shock of San Diego; sons and daughters-in-law Ken and Cece Blankenship, Ron and Carolyn Blankenship and Charles Blankenship of Brawley; brother and sister-in-law Joe and Helen Rider of Afton, Okla.; sisters Othella Thyre of Raymore, MO., DeVita Cole of Foyle, Okla. and LaVerda Biggerstaff of Coloumbus, KS.; grandchildren Denise Ortiz of Shirley, NY., Lisa and Jim Bender of Fallbrook, CA., Mark and Tina Blankenship of Carlsbad, Ken Blankenship of El Centro, Deanna and Randy Runyon of Alpine, Geoffrey and Sandy Shook of Camano Island, WA., Dayna and Tony Monaghan of Charlottesville, VA., David and Fiona Blankenship of Los Angeles, Vicki Blankenship of San Diego, and Shelly and Andy Carrillo of Salinas; 21 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
