All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Ft Gibson National Cemetery--Ft Gibson OK Published in Muskogee Phoenix on October 31, 2006 Section A Page 4 Lelan Forrest Clement 1922 - 2006 Lelan Forrest Clement, 84, of Muskogee, died Saturday, October 28, 2006 at Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was born June 7, 1922 to Charlie and Stella (Burden) Clement in Macomb, Oklahoma where he graduated from high school. Shortly after graduation, during World War II, he was drafted into the U. S. Army. His first job after serving in the military was at C. C. Davis Wholesale Grocery. Then he went to work at Wise TV for thirteen years as a wholesaler before beginning a career at Trice Wholesale Electronics which spanned 25 years. He retired from Trice when they sold the company. Lelan began working on his own, doing electronic repairs, and was still actively working at 80 years old. He loved his family and church. His hobby was carpentry. Lelan was a member of Memorial Christian Church, the Masonic Lodge and Shriners York Rite Body. Lelan was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, two sisters; and his wife, Bernice Clement who passed away on November 2, 2000. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Don and Donna Clement, of Muskogee; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rose and Kent Hammer, and Patricia and James Hill, of Muskogee; step-son, Malcolm Montgomery, and his wife, Laura, of Tahlequah; step-daughter, Pamela Hodge, and her husband, Richard, of Skiatook; step-son, Dr. Roger Montgomery, and his wife, Colene, of Fayetteville, AR; five grandchildren, Roger Hammer, John Hammer, Melissa Ellis, Amanda Clement, and Nathan Hill; Three great-grandchildren, Morgan Hammer, Alex Hammer, and Emily Ellis; seven step-grandchildren; sisters, Bessie Cope, of Tecumseh, OK and Anna Mae Hix, of Macomb, OK and the mother of his children, Evelyn. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2006, at Fosters’ Ivory Chapel with Reverend Mary Ewing officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Gibson National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gene Dye, Basil Myers, Leroy Geheb, J. R. Salyers, Don Nelson and Bill Bains. Honorary pallbearers are G. E. Hood and Aron Mitchum.
