A. "Pete" Edmondston was born in Shawnee, Okla., on April 24, 1924, to Alfred and Ora Lee Edmondson. Pete graduated from Lemoore High School. Upon returning home from his military service, as a U.S. Army aircraft mechanic, he married Minnie Lee Land of Tulare, Calif. They resided in Avenal reading their two children, Greg and Chrys Edmondson. Pete worked over 40 years at the PG&E Kettleman Hills Compressor Station, as shop foreman, lead mechanic. After retirement from PG&E, Pete and Minnie moved to Oakhurst, in 1985. His wife of 41 years, died of cancer in 1987. Prior to Pete's illness, he could be found traveling with his motorhome club, The Happy Campers, in his garden, or at the barbecue. He was known for his talents with wood, creating masterpiece clocks, and woodworking. He loved to cook, fish, and was known to tell a good joke or two. His son Greg, died in October of 2005, of lung cancer. Pete is currently survived by Irene Dodson Edmondson of Madera Ranchos, his wife of 18 years; daughter Chrysi Canerday-January, also of Madera Ranchos; and his brother, Ralph Edmondson of Avenal; his daughter-in-law, Dianna Edmondson of Santa Rosa; his stepchildren, Judy Burton of Elk Grove, Jeanie Eller of Wilton, Jeff Barrett of Fresno and Jill Tugman of Yuma, Ariz.; grandchildren, Chad Canerday, Michelle Reed, Cindy Sutter and Jenny Jones; great-grandchildren Kash Canerday, the Reeds’ Conner, zachary, Kaden and Zoe, and Dalton Jones; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren on his wife’s side. Pete’s life will be celebrated at his daughter’s home at 35269 Marciel in Madera Ranchos on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at 2 p.m. Please call for directions (559) 645-0136.
