She married Floyd Elms in 1939 and they were together 59 years until his death in 1998. She is preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Minnie Beard; 4 brothers; and 5 sisters. Verna is survived by her 4 children and their spouses, Barbara and Jim Nickell, LaVerne and Don Perry, Dale and Patti Elms, and Lori and Jon Silvius; sister, Jean Worthington; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Chapel services will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2002, 2:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Mortuary with interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
