Bangert Hunter Boatright Kratzke was born January 1, 1924, in Guide Rock, Nebraska, to John A. and Anna E. Colburn Bangert. She attended Zion Lutheran School through eighth grade, and graduated from Lawrence High in Lawrence, Nebraska. She was active in 4-H, band, Glee Club and Pep Club. She attended Hastings Business College, and accepted employment in Civil Service in Washington, D.C., April 1942. Lavina married Virgil Hunter of Shawnee, Oklahoma, on August 29, 1943, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Newark, New Jersey. They moved to St. Louis, Mo., in 1946, and to Denver, Colo., in 1951, where they were both employed at the Air Force Finance Center. Virgil passed away on August 30, 1956, from a heart attack. She moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1959, and was joined in marriage to Leland S. Boatright Jr., June 13 of that year. Lavina was employed with the Federal Aviation Administration as the investigations and security officer until her retirement in August 1978. They started their retirement years in Oak Harbor, Wash., and four years later moved to Soda Springs, Idaho. Lavina lost Lee to cancer in March of 1989. On March 28, 1993, she married Paul T.M. Kratzke at Grace Lutheran in Pocatello, Idaho. She had been active in the LCMS, wherever she had lived as a choir member, president of her local LWML and in various appointed positions. Lavina also was involved with LLL and the Lutheran Hour Ministries as secretary to the district president, and is a member of the Hoffman Society of the LHM. She was a Rotarian and a Paul Harris Fellow. Lavina loved to travel, and had traveled throughout the states as well as internationally. She is survived by her husband, Paul Kratzke, of Pocatello, Idaho; her sister, Wilma Dobesh and her husband, Ernie, of Grand Island, Neb.; her daughters, Karol Alderman of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Regina Hall and her husband, Ernie, of Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren, Kenenne Karsinski, Evan Hall, Brian Hall, and Kathy Hall; and eight great-grandchildren. Her favorite charities are the Lutheran Hour Ministries, LCMS World Relief and the Alaska Missions for Christ. Services will be conducted at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 8100 Arctic Blvd., in Anchorage.
