All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Bethany Cemetery--Bethany OK Lovelady, Dickey McCollister Dickey McCollister Lovelady was born Dec. 17, 1920 to John and Elsa Lovelady in Shawnee, OK. He graduated from Shawnee High School and entered the U. S. Air Force in 1944, serving in England, France and Germany as a glider pilot. He was also a commercial pilot and flight instructor. He then returned to Shawnee and worked for Hornbeck Theatres and met and married his wife Carolyn. They moved to the Bethany area in 1956 and lived there for 48 years. Dick's work journey included Aero Commander, Wm. E. Davis Food Distributors and Putnam City School System. His years as audio visual director at Putnam City High were some of his happiest! He loved the teachers & students with whom he worked. Dick and Carolyn were members of Putnam City Baptist Church approximately 20 yrs, and have been active members of Council Road Baptist Church for over 27 years. Dick's greatest achievement was his commitment to Jesus Christ. He cherished his family which includes Carolyn of the home in Bethany; son, Rob Roy & his daughters Madelyne and Jennifer and fianci Amber Geissler & her daughter Kailee; daughter, Laura Swarny, Buena Vista, CO, & her husband Mark and their sons Joshua & Marshal; daughter, Robin Rose, Okla. City & husband John and their daughter Riley Renee'. Survivors also include sister in law, Beth Shirley of Bethany; nephew, Terry Allen, New York; and many cousins & friends. Dick's parents, his sister Dorothy, and nephew Randall Allen preceded him in death. We believe that Dick would want you to especially remember those less fortunate as we enter this season of Thanksgiving. Many organizations are participating in providing food. We recommend the Council Road Baptist Church Food Pantry. Visitation will be at Mercer-Adams in Bethany. A celebration service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 2:00 p.m. in the Worship Center at Council Road Baptist Church. A graveside service will take place on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Cemetery.
