All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== LYDA MAE NEGAHNQUET September 1999 Shawnee resident Lyda Mae "Theresa" Negahnquet passed away at the age of 81. Mrs. Negahnquet, also known as the "Hat Lady", was born December 15, 1917 in Bennington, Oklahoma to William Wilson and Lyda (McClure) Stark. She married Joseph A. Negahnquet on September 16, 1941 in Oklahoma City. She graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School at Sacred Heart, Oklahoma. She also graduated from St. Anthony College for Nursing. She was raised in Sacred Heart and also lived in Oklahoma City and in Maryland. She later moved to Santa Ana, California before retiring and returning to Macaomb, Oklahoma in the early 1970's. She had retired as a registered nurse after many years of service as a private duty nurse caring for terminally ill patients. After retirement, she sold tupperware. She was a member of the Oblate of St. Benedict and St. Gregory's Abbey. She also was a parishioner of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Konowa. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 19, 1989. She also was preceded in death by her son, William Joseph Negahnquet, and two grandchildren. Survivors include her daughters, Jo Nell Negahnquet, Cambden, Arkansas; Theresa Marie Neal, Tucson, Arizona; Kathryn Ann Hallam, Shawnee; Lyda Rebecca Stinnett, San Dimas, California, and Susan Bernadette Martinez, Long Beach, California; sons, Lt. Col. Stephen Henry Negahnquet, USMC, Marbury, Maryland, and Thomas Francis Negahnquet, Shawnee; brother, William Wilson Stark II, Dubuque, Iowa; sisters, Margaret Mary Turner, Memphis, Tennessee, and Carolyn Schmidkofer, Tecumseh, Oklhaoma; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and numberous relatives and friends. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Pottawatomie County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/pottawatomie/pottawatomie.htm
