Smith Jerry Ray Smith, 69, of Marysville died Aug. 21, 2006, at Rideout Memorial Hospital. Born in Shawnee, Okla., he was a Yuba-Sutter resident since 1976. He was the owner and operator of the GEM Bar on Lindhurst Avenue. He was a member of the American Legion 904 in Linda, Noncommissioned Officers Association and a long time volunteer for the American Cancer Society. Also, he served in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Phylliss Smith of Marysville; three sons, Geoffrey Smith of East Nicolaus, Kenneth “Gregg” Maxwell of Riverside and Douglas Maxwell of Ramona; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Services: A memorial celebration of life is scheduled at noon Sept. 3 at 2129 Watt Ave., East Nicolaus, with full Military Honors. Inurnment will be in Sierra View Memorial Park in Olivehurst. Arrangements are under the direction of Lipp and Sullivan Chapel in Marysville. ========= Jerry R.
