Thompson GEORGETOWN - Leroy E. Thompson, age 76, formerly of Amarillo died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, in Temple. Services will be 11 a.m. today in First United Methodist Church in Georgetown with Dr. Jim Smith, the Rev. Randy Scrivener and the Rev. Brenda Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Georgetown by Cook-Walden/Davis Funeral Home. He was born on Aug. 26, 1926, in Tecumseh, Okla. to Loyd E. Thompson and Thelma Irene (Neal) Thompson. Leroy served in the Navy during World War II. He married his wife of 52 years, Pearl (Merydith) Thompson on July 15, 1951. Leroy was president of Smith-Thompson Inc., an industrial and oil field supply company, in Amarillo. He was a member of Toastmasters where he served in many different positions. Leroy was president of Amarillo Jaycees. He was an active member in St. Stephen United Methodist Church in Amarillo and First United Methodist Church in Georgetown. Survivers include his wife; a son, Matt Thompson and wife, Tammy, of Round Rock; his grandchildren, Tyler, Tara, and Nora Thompson, all of Cedar Park; a sister, Tommie Lou Hall and husband, Dick, of Carrollton; an aunt, Edna Dale of Guthrie, Okla.; a brother-in-law, Edward Merydith and wife, Sharon, of Perryton; his sisters-in-law, Peggy Urban and husband, Robert, of Perryton and Joyce Hodges and husband, Jim, of Richmond, Va.; his mother-in-law, Rachel Merydith of Perryton; his nieces, Kelly Hall, Jan Hodges, Sheryl Nichols, Debbie Herrington, Becky Munsell, and Linda Smith; his nephews, John Duke, Kevin Duke, Bill Merydith, and Doug Hall; and numerous cousins, great nieces, and great nephews.
