All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Nevans Jimmie "Jim" Brinkley Nevans Jimmie "Jim" Brinkley, 77, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Paramount Terrace Christian Church Chapel with Mike Brock, pastor of Grace Thru Faith Fellowship in Dumas, and Richie Brown, pastor of Amarillo Fellowship Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Brinkley was born April 13, 1926, in Tuskahoma, Okla., to Frank and Minnie Brinkley. He entered the Army in 1944 and was assigned to Company C as a light tank crewman. He served in the Philippines during World War II and was a part of the Luzon Campaign. He married Eunice Manasco on Feb. 9, 1946, in Vandervoot, Ark. He was a farmer in the Lamesa area for many years. He moved to Amarillo from Muleshoe in 1989. Jim will be dearly missed by his family, but they all rejoice in his "home going." He was preceded in death by his first born, Jimmy Darrell Brinkley, who died at birth. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jerry D. Brinkley of Amarillo; a daughter, Shirley J. Cornett of Lamesa; two sisters, Marie Barker of Forney and Tammy Morris of Commerce; three grandchildren, Craig Cornett of Lamesa, Cyndi Browne of Seagraves and Carla Tallman of El Paso; four great-grandchildren, Trey Browne, Tory Browne, Devan Cornett and Cheyenne Tallman. The family suggests memorials be to Amarillo Fellowship Church, 112 W. Eighth Ave., Amarillo, TX 79101.
