CUMPTON SERVICES HELD J. D. Cumpton was born June 27, 1925 in Corinne, Oklahoma and passed away December 24, 2001 in Antlers, Oklahoma at 76 years of age. Mr. Cumpton was retired from Weyerhauser where he worked as a timber consultant. He attended the New Hope Tabernacle Church in Sobol and was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Cumpton had served as a technician for the U. S. Army in World War II Pacific Theater. Mr. Cumpton was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Frances, of the home. Two brothers, George Cumpton of Sobol, Oklahoma and Floyd Seymore of Tehachapi, California. One sister, Ellen Hamill of Rattan, Oklahoma and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 26, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at the New Hope Tabernacle Church in Sobol with Wayne McBride and Jerry Ragland officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Lonnie Smith, Johnny Smith, Jim Elliott, Jack Savage, Jack Hedrick, and R. D. Willie. Honorary pallbearers included Shirley Baker, Delores Baze, Brad Wheeler, and Joe DeWitt.
