All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED Chisler, Maxine Elliot 1908-2007 Maxine Chisler died peacefully Saturday, July 21, 2007. Maxine was born to George and Marjorie Isabelle Rigsby on Nov. 3, 1908, in Finley, Okla., the second of four children. She grew up and completed high school in Tulsa, Okla., where, in 1928 she married Harrold Austin Chisler. In 1944 Harrold's job took the family to Portland. Maxine moved her four daughters and prized washing machine on the train. In 1952 Maxine joined the Order of the Eastern Star, and later became a grand matron, officer, and lifetime member. Maxine was proud to be an American and a voting Republican. When Harrold died in 1964, her daughters were married and Maxine knew the joys of being a grandmother. She was a talented seamstress who could tailor a suit or make beautiful dresses for her granddaughters. She was most proud of her perfect hand sewing. Over the years Maxine made hundreds of stuffed animals, which were given to children's charities. Maxine had many happy years as a great grandmother, passing along her sewing and crocheting skills. Maxine leaves her daughters, Dorthea Pailthorp and Ann Walker. In addition nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren survive her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harrold; daughters, Marjorie Moore, Marcia Day and Mary Lou Chisler; grandson, David Pailthorp; and granddaughter Marcene Day.
