All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Holy Cross Cemetery--Foreman AR Elms, Ann West ANN WEST, 69, of Fullerton, California, passed away November 14, 2002, after a brief illness. Born January 27, 1933, in Oklahoma City to Powell and Dorothy Arnote West, she lived in Shawnee for 11 years and moved to Antlers, Oklahoma in 1944. A graduate of Antlers high school in 1951, she received a BS in journalism from the University of Oklahoma, graduating with honors. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Mortar Board and recipient of the silver Letzeiser award in 1956. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Mrs. Elms also received a MS in education administration and a MS in counseling from California State University, Fullerton. She was a California resident for 45 years; a teacher of Journalism and English, and school administrator the last 30 years of her life. She had been assistant principal at La Habra high school, La Habra, California since 1984, until retirement in 1999. An avid traveler, she delighted in climbing mountains and exploring the world. She was active in the Fullerton Presbyterian church and in the Democratic party, serving as a Presidential Elector in 1996. She was an enthusiastic fan of the California Angels, and the University of Oklahoma Sooners. But her family was the interest most important to her. She was preceded in death by her father, Powell West, and her eldest son, Christopher Elms who died November 7, 2002. Survivors are her mother, Dorothy West, Antlers; daughter, Terry Lindsay and her husband Robert Lindsay, of Locust Valley, New York; son Steven Elms and his wife Katherine, of New York, New York; son Patrick Elms and his wife Judy of San Diego, California; sister Sally Swatek and her husband Robert Swatek, Oklahoma City; brother Bob West and his wife Jeannie, Valliant, Oklahoma, and seven grandsons. Memorial services were held November 16th at the Fullerton Presbyterian Church, with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Foreman, Arkansas. She was a loving, caring and devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend; she is gone too soon and is sorely missed.
