Mr. Hendrick died Thursday, March 27, 2003, in The Woodlands. ========= Lawton Constitution 30 Mar 2003 Finis E. Hendrick THE WOODLANDS, Texas — Funeral for former Lawton resident Finis E. Hendrick, 85, The Woodlands, Texas, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Dr. Gary W. Cook, pastor, First Baptist Church, Lawton, Okla., officiating. Mr. Hendrick died Thursday, March 27, 2003, in The Woodlands, Texas. Services are under direction of Becker Funeral Home. He was born Dec. 22, 1917, in Tuskahoma, Okla., to Houston and Ruby Hendrick. He attended Cameron College and later enrolled at the University of Oklahoma, where he graduated in 1941 with a bachelor of science in civil engineering. After graduation he entered the U.S. Air Force where he served in Iwo Jima. He was discharged in 1946 and returned to Lawton where he became associated with his brother ,Wyatt Hendrick, in the consulting engineering business. He married Margie Autry on Aug. 15, 1946, in Lawton, where they lived until he was recalled by the Air Force in 1948. He attended the Army Language School in Monterrey, California before reporting to Caracas, Venezuela, to serve as engineer adviser to the Venezuelan government. He spent three years supervising of design of air fields and facilities. They returned to the United States in 1952 to Mineral Wells, Texas, until his discharge from the Air Force in 1955. After returning to Lawton, he worked with his brother, Wyatt, until he and his brother, Robert B. Hendrick, formed their own company designing turnpikes, highways, airports and runways. He later established his own business, Hendrick Engineering Company, where he worked until his retirement. He lived in Lawton until June of 2002 when he moved to The Woodlands, Texas. He served as president of the Wichita Mountains Chapter of the Oklahoma Society of Professional Engineers from 1961-1962. He was a lifetime member of the Alumni Association of the University of Oklahoma. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Lawton. He was a member of The Woodlands United Methodist Church at the time of his death. Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law: Ann and Ken Bierut, Canton, Conn., and Lynn and Russ Archer, The Woodlands; seven grandchildren: Brian, Michael and Kelly Bierut, Adam Archer and wife Shauna, Chelle Archer, and Melissa and Paul Hendrick; two brothers: Lloyd Hendrick and Robert B. Hendrick; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, James Edward Hendrick.
