She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, O. V. Ruby arrived in California in May 1951. They settled in Arvin and raised a family of nine. In addition to her own family, she opened her home to Joe and Charles whom she raised as her own. Ruby was an accomplished seamstress, cook and quilter. Nobody ever left Ruby's house hungry and her many handstitched quilts and afghans given to her children and grandchildren will continue to keep us all warm. Ruby made many lasting friendships in the community of Arvin, one of those was with Evelyn Dominguez whom she loved like a sister. Their strong bond was formed over homemade bread and homemade tortillas which they frequently exchanged. No one ever left Granny's house without some kind of homemade treat. On the morning of December 8, 2004, Roby peacefully went home with her family and her beloved dog, Chica Rose, by her side. The family would like to express a special Thank you from the bottom of their hearts to her nurse, Alice Bender and her caregiver, Flo with Optimal Hospice.
