Mrs. Kennedy had lived in Antlers for 29 years following her retirement from the real estate business. She has lived in Decatur, Texas for the past 6 years to be close to her family. Mrs. Kennedy was of the Baptist faith and had attended the Ethel Missionary Baptist Church. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and was an accomplished quilter. She is survived by 2 sons: George Winston Smith and wife Barbara of Winnsboro, Texas and Andy Smith and wife Janett of Decatur, Texas; 4 daughters: Rosetta Jennings and husband Walter of Decatur, Texas; Penny Baisden and husband Doug of Decatur, Texas; Jennifer Perkins of Denton, Texas; and Sandra Rolland and husband Jack of Atoka, Oklahoma; 3 brothers: J. T. Kitchens and wife Goldie of Bosque Farms, New Mexico; Paul Kitchens and wife Penny of Lovington, New Mexico; and Marvin Lee Kitchens and wife Frances of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 3 sisters: Mickey Bitill and Sylvia Pender, both of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma and Iva Gee and husband D. L. of Nashoba, Oklahoma; 26 grandchildren; 60 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, May 6, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ethel Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Ben Hotubbee officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Larry Gee, Leon Gee, Wade Gee, Darmon Gee, Mark Gee and Terron Gee. She was laid to her final resting place at Antlers City Cemetery under the direction of Mills-Coffey Funeral Home of Antlers, Oklahoma.
