LAWLESS SERVICES HELD Oscar C. Lawless was born on May 25, 1912 in Sobol, Oklahoma and passed away on October 8, 2001 in Antlers, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years. Mr. Lawless was a lifelong resident of Sobol, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Sobol Baptist Church since 1947. He had worked as a former machine operator for the Oklahoma State Highway Department until he retired. Mr. Lawless was a former Mason, and enjoyed his leisure fishing, quail hunting, reading westerns, and sports. He is survived by his five children: Patricia A. Bruce of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Frances J. Persinger of Sobol, Oklahoma; Jerry Lawless of Sobol, Oklahoma; D. Bruce Lawless of Rattan, Oklahoma; and Monty R. Lawless of Caney, Oklahoma. One brother: Norman Lawless of Spencerville, Oklahoma and one sister: Edith Womack of Paris, Texas. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Emma Lawless; his wife: Ruby Lawless in 1977; three brothers: Jason Lawless, Grady Lawless and Clifford Lawless; and three sisters: Esther Lawless, Edna Still and Ethel Allen. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 10, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sobol Baptist Church with Reverend Rick Dominic, Reverend Sam Pound, and Reverend Paul Wheelus officiating. Serving as pallbearers were grandsons: Tim Persinger, Marty Lawless, Mike Lawless, Chance Lawless, Dustin Lawless, and Ryan Johnson. Honorary pallbearers was the Adult Men's Sunday School Class (Noel Gibson). Burial was held at the Sobol Cemetery under the direction of Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Antlers, Oklahoma. -------------------------------------
