All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::New Tacoma Cemetery--Tacoma WA Lyles, Thomas S/SGT THOMAS LYLES, U.S. ARMY Tom was born April 16, 1918 in Antlers, Oklahoma and passed away Sept. 16, 2007. He is survived by wife Liz of 49 years. Tom served in India during WW2. Between 1945-1956 he worked for John Deere. In 1956 he reenlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany where he met his wife Liz. The Lyles settled in Tacoma in 1966 and soon after they were lovingly adopted by the Harper family. Tom soon became the Mayor of 43rd St. In 1970 Tom served in Viet Nam and medically retired from the Army in 1971. He enjoyed backyard barbecuing and trips to Reno. Tom tended to his yard and beautiful roses with a passion. He had a unique whistle that will never be forgotten. I would like to especially thank the entire Harper family for giving us a family to love. Special thanks to Eva Draper for her prayers and thoughtfulness and thanks to University Place Care Center and Lakewood Dialysis Center. We will miss you and you will always be in our heart! Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 20th from 1pm -8pm at the New Tacoma Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Friday, Sept. 21st at 1:30pm in the Chambers Creek Chapel at the New Tacoma Cemetery.
