All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Lakewood Memorial Park--Hughson CA Mc Arthur, Jack JACK Mc ARTHUR JAN. 11, 1933 - JAN. 12, 2007 Jack Mc Arthur, born January 11, 1933 died January 12, 2007 at his home, surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born in Antlers, Ok. He lived in Stanislaus County for 46 years. He was a member of Christ Community Church. He was a member of Post 74 American Legion, Modesto. He served in the Navy 1952-1955 aboard the USS Platte, during the Korean Conflict. Mc Arthur joined the MJC faculty in 1961 and was appointed head of the department in 1966. He also was a deputy sheriff for Stanislaus and Tulare Counties. He was named Director of the Criminal Science Regional Training Center at Modesto Junior College West Campus. Mc Arthur was appointed by the District Board Yosemite Junior College. He was the author of seven professional publications including Police Patrol Pointers, a nationally distributed guide for law enforcement personnel. Mc Arthur had served as an editorial research assistant for California Commission of police officer standards and training publication Career Opportunities in Law Enforcement. He held an AA Degree in Social Science from Stanislaus State and a Master's Degree in Education, also from Stanislaus State. He also attended Fresno State and the University of California Berkeley. Mc Arthur was named Modesto Civitan Citizen of the Year. He also was president of the Modesto Exchange Club, active in Big Brothers. The Criminal Justice Training Center is the first of its kind in the nation and serves college Police Science students and working with criminal justice personnel in Stanislaus, Tuolumne, San Joaquin, Merced, Mariposa, Amador, Calaveras and Alpine Counties. In addition to serving as a facility for college students and law enforcement personnel, the center also offered training in such police related work as rehabilitation, corrections and the courts. Mc Arthur and his wife, Iva have two children, Teresa Mackenzie and Jackie Mc Arthur. He also has three grandchildren: Keith, Lee and Markie Mackenzie of Modesto. Jack was preceded in death by his son, David James Mc Arthur, three brothers, one sister and parents, Jim and Lola Mc Arthur. Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 18 between 4:00-8:00 pm with services to be held Fri., Jan, 19; 1:00 pm; both at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel, followed by a brief graveside service at Lakewood Memorial Park.
