Contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Teresa Young July 5, 2001 ************************************************************************ "Push County Times", March 13, 2001, Page 7 JOE EDWARD MORTON SERVICE HELD Joe Edward Morton was born on January 18, 1956 in Antlers, Oklahoma and passed away on March 9, 2001 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 45 years. Joe worked with the D.O.C. at McLeod Honor Farm as a Senior Correctional Training Instructor. He has been employed with the McLeod Honor Farm since 1980. Joe was of the Church of Christ faith and has served his country in the U.S. Navy. He grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and upon his discharge from the Navy, Joe moved back to this area where he met and married Linda Bryant on October 12, 1979 in Lane, Oklahoma. Joe's favorite leisure activity was spending time outdoors and fishing. He is survived by his wife: Linda J. Morton of Antlers, Okla.; 1 son: John Edward Morton of Antlers; Mother: Devoy Wofford of Allen, Okla.; sister: Debbie Abner of Allen, Okla. as numerous relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father: Edward Eugene Morton in 1994. Funeral services were held on Monday, March 12, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. in the Antlers Church of Christ with D. Brent Franks officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Bobby Cross, Lee Vaughn, Frank Rember, Thomas Rosenthal, Wallan McKnight, Bobby Smith, Buck Bicknell, and Kenneth Rember. Honorary pallbearers included: Friends and Co-workers at the McLeod Honor Farm. D.O.C. Honor Guard include: Rita Thomas, Todd Martin, Debbie Markland, Scott Slather, Jason Henderson, Terry Powell. Final resting place was at the Darwin Cemetery under the direction of Mills-Coffey Funeral Home in Antlers, Oklahoma. _________________________________________________________________
