May, William C.    

Bill was born in Nashoba, Oklahoma where his parents raised cattle. 
He joined the Army in February 1948 and served during the Korean War. 
In August 1950, he received an honorable discharge due to a permanent 
disability. Bill moved to Bakersfield, California and married his 
wife, Frances, in June 1951. They were married for 56 years. His 
wife, 3 children, 8 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren survive 
him and reside her in Bakersfield. Bill enjoyed reading the Bible and 
sharing his love for God with others. He was kind and generous to his 
family and friends. Bill was a member of the DAV chapter 20 and the 
auxiliary DAV chapter 157. He enjoyed telling jokes, going for long 
walks, watching Christian TV, listening to Country and Western music, 
and eating out. Everyone affectionately called him "Papa'' after the 
birth of several grandchildren. Services will be held at Hillcrest 
Memorial Park & Mortuary and will be officiated by Reverend Norman 
Fortenberry. Visitation will be at 4 to 8 p.m. July 19, Hillcrest 
Mortuary. Funeral service, 2 p.m., July 20, Hillcrest Memorial 
Chapel; and graveside military salute at 2:45 p.m. at Garden of 
Resurrection Lawn. All his loved ones will sorrowfully miss Papa, but 
our hearts are comforted knowing he will be with the Lord and is 
resting in peace. We love you Papa. William C. May Jan. 30, 1930-July
