All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Durant Daily-Democrat 9 Dec 2004 Elmer Nelson, 87 Services for Elmer Nelson, 87, Silo, who passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2004, in Durant, will be held in the Brown's Funeral Service Chapel Friday, December 10, 2004, at 10 a.m. Brother Marlin Harp will officiate. Elmer was born February 13, 1916, in Cloudy, Okla., to William Elmore and Mary Helena (Denham) Nelson. Elmer was a school board member for Mead and Silo schools for many years. He attended Wapanucka and Bromide schools. He started and provided for EastSide Jesus Name Church. Elmer raised farm animals and ostriches. He was married to Wilma Crowell for fifty years. Elmer will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Mary; and sisters Bessie May Nelson and Lillian Opal Troutman. Elmer is survived by sons Michael Elmer Nelson and Stephen Nelson both of Silo; daughter Debbie Billings and husband Jerry of Silo; sister Hazel Vaughn of Wiley, Texas; granddaughters Stephanie Davidson and husband Wesley of Silo and Courtney Nelson of Utica; grandson Lance Billings of Mead; great-grandchildren Bethany Davidson, Tucker Davidson, Layne Billings and Colton Nelson; and long time close friend and business partner Charles Robison. Internment will be in Highland Cemetery with Frank Weir, Joe Parson, Berdine Mincher, Tony Mincher, Will Airington, Dan Hughes and Wade Edge serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Robison and Joe Walder. Family hour will be Thursday, December 9, 2004, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
