During WWII , he served in the Army Air Force in Europe. In 1940 , he worked for the Federal Security Agency and in 1960 he was named assistant general counsel for the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, and subsequently headed the civil rights and social security divisions of the general counsel's office. He was preceded in death by his parents, I. YOURMAN and Jenny REHFIELD YOURMAN, and a brother, Marin YOURMAN. BRUCE - October 7, 1993 Vester BRUCE was born August 1, 1911 at Scotland, Arkansas. He passed away September 26, 1993 at the Anadarko Municipal Hospital at the age of 82. He moved to Lookeba, Oklahoma in 1956 from Nashoba. He married Willie May KILGORE on March 5, 1939 at Pickins Creek, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death August 10, 1974. He was a farmer. He was preceded in death by his parent, Mr. and Mrs. Charles BRUCE, his wife, a brother, Harve BRUCE, and a sister, Tilda DANIELS. Services were held at Binger Church of God September 29. Burial was at Lookeba Cemetery WIGGAINS - October 7, 1993 Services for Mary Lee WIGGAINS were held September 30, 1993 in the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Thomas Cunningham officiating. Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mrs. WIGGAINS died September 27 at the Stillwater Medical Center at the age of 65. She was born January 10, 1928 in Wilburton to Chester Carlton "Buck" and Joe (DeLOUCH) BROWN. She married James "Red" WIGGAINS September 16, 1966 in Stillwater. WOLCOTT Jewel Ellie WOLCOTT, 85 of Wilburton, died October 4, 1993 at McAlester. She was born August 26, 1908 in Wilburton. She married John B. WOLCOTT September 28, 1940 at Wilburton. She was preceded in death by her husband, John WOLCOTT on October 16, 1972. Services were held October 5, at Jones Funeral Chapel with Rev. Cecil Fassio officiating. Burial was at Wilburton City Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home. MOORE - October 7, 1993 Ova Mae MOORE, 86 of Otterbein, Indiana, died September 26, 1993. She was born June 7, 1907 at Booneville, Arkansas to Charlie H. and Minnie SMITH NICHOLS. She was a former resident of Talihina where she lived from 1952 to 1986. Before moving to Talihina, she had lived in Booneville. She married Hugh T. MOORE August 4, 1930 at Barber, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh, in 1955; four brothers, two sisters. a son and two daughters. Services were held September 28 at Williamsport Chapel in Williamsport, Indiana with Pastor Chris Yazel officiating. Fisher Funeral Homes of Williamsport handled the arrangements. Graveside services were held October 1 at the Old Talihina City Cemetery with Rev. Cecil Holcomb officiating. Burial was under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home. RICHARDSON - October 7, 1993 Funeral services for Gene Kenneth RICHARDSON of Ringgold, Louisiana were held September 29, 1993 at Rockett Funeral Home Chapel in Ringgold with Dr. Johnny Adkins, assisted by J.M. Lamkin and Rev. J.C. Clements, officiating. Graveside services were held September 30 at Muse Cemetery with Jerry D. RICHARDSON officiating. Mr. RICHARDSON passed away September 25, 1993 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was 70. He was a native of Oklahoma and a resident of Ringgold, Louisiana for the past 34 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Eva RICHARDSON of Muse. Rockett Funeral Home of Ringgold, Louisiana handled the arrangement. BARRON - October 7, 1993 Willis Gilbert BARRON, 76-years-old lifelong resident of Muse, died October 5, 1993 at his home. He was born November 16, 1916 at Acorn. Arkansas to Grover Cleveland and Nancy REID BARRON. Services will be held Friday, October 8, at 2 p.m. at Muse Baptist Church with Rev. Carrol Fitzgerald officiating. BROWN - October 7, 1993 Kenneth Eugene BROWN, 65 of Albion, died October 1, 1993 at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He was born September 20, 1928 at Mead, Okla. to C.K. and Ruby SMITH BROWN. He had attended school in Durant and his vocation was farming. He had lived in the Talihina and Albion area for 33 years. MILLER - October 7, 1993 Nickless Jimmie MILLER, 87 of Talihina, died October 1, 1993 at the Talihina Manor Nursing Home. She was born September 2, 1906 at the Head Community near Albion to Nick and Ida DUCKETT KNIGHT. She was a lifetime resident of the Talihina/Albion area. She married Samuel MILLER in 1924 at Albion. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam, on April 9, 1988. Services were held October 4, at Drake-Jones Funeral Chapel with Rev. Larry Bray officiating. Burial was at the New Talihina City Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home. MOORE - October 14, 1993 Hazel MOORE, 75 of Talihina, died October 1, 1993 at Wadley Memorial Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. She was born February 14, 1918 at Cloudy, Oklahoma to Doc Childs and Mary Elizabeth BOYSTER SMITH. She had been a resident of Talihina for the past 10 years. She married Robert Alec MOORE on August 8, 1936. She was precede in death by her husband on October 16, 1990, and a son, Robert D. MOORE, on February 22, 1987. MORTON - October 14, 1993 Cindy Lou MORTON, 43 of rural Pushmataha County, died October 4, 1993 near her home. She was born April 29, 1950 at Fort Worth, Texas to Ralph and Lavern ABSHIRE. WELCH - October 14, 1993 Joe Henry "Sarge" WELCH, 70 of Tuskahoma, died September 28, 1993 at Paris, Texas. He was born July 8, 1923 at Pawhuska to Delores and Nadine WELCH. He married Barbara WELCH July 27, 1978 in Houston, Texas. He was a retired U.S. Marine Corps Master Sergeant. Services were held September 30 at Lighthouse Cathedral in Clayton with Brother David Jackson officiating. Burial was at Old Town Cemetery, Tuskahoma. Blue Lodge #491 provided Masonic services at the cemetery. WARFORD - October 14, 1993 Pauline Beatrice WARFORD, 75, died October 7, 1993 after an extended illness. She was a longtime resident of Wilburton. Her husband, Paul WARFORD, has been a resident since 1907 and a retired Rock Island Railroad employee. Services were held October 9 at the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Willard Francis officiating. Burial was at Center Point Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home. HAWTHORNE - October 14, 1993 Wayne O. HAWTHORNE, 70 of Wilburton, died October 11, 1993 at Talihina. he was born December 18, 1922 at Rocky Point. He was a retired rancher and was a member of the AF&AM Lodge #141 of Wilburton. Graveside services were held October 13 at Baldwin Cemetery with Rev. Willard Francis officiating. Jones Funeral Home handled the arrangements. MORGAN - October 14, 1993 Funeral services for Donald Gene MORGAN, 64 of Lake Jackson, were held October 6, 1993 at Lakewood Funeral Chapel with Rev. Duane Phy officiating. He died October 3, 1993 at Brazosport Memorial Hospital in Lake Jackson. Burial was at Restwood Memorial Park Cemetery. He was an area resident since 1943 and a member of the Lake Jackson Volunteer Fire Dept. for over 35 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Wayne MORGAN, 1989. JOHNSON - October 14, 1993 Robert C. JOHNSON, 78 of Spiro, died October 2, 1993 at the Talihina Veterans Center. He was born October 9, 1914 at Hartford, Arkansas to Ervin and Ollie Jane GOSSETT JOHNSON. He was a coalminer. Graveside services were held October 5 at the New Talihina City Cemetery with Rev. Bob Cherry officiating. Drake-Jones handled the arrangements. HARRISON - October 14, 1993 Betty Jean HARRISON, 65 of Muse, died October 3, 1993 at the Choctaw Nation Indian Hospital in Talihina. She was born February 7, 1928 at Dallas, Texas to Raymond and Lillian HARRISON WARNER. She was a resident of Muse area for 11 years. Services were held October 6 at Drake-Jones Chapel with Rev. Carrol Fitzgerald officiating. Burial was at Muse Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home. BROWN - October 21, 1993 Elmer A. BROWN , 83 of Talihina, died October 14, 1993 at the Choctaw Nation Indian Hospital in Talihina. He was born June 4, 1910 at Telephone, Texas. He was a member of the Baptist faith and had lived in Talihina since 1932. He had operated Brown's Variety Store in Talihina for a number of years. He married Irene June SWAFFORD at Poteau on September 16, 1977. He was a member of the AF&AM Lodge No. 73 in Talihina, a member of the Scottish Rites Consistory in McAlester, and a 32 degree Mason where he had received his 50-year service pin. He was a former mayor of Talihina, school board member, Carl Albert Junior College College Board of Regents member, Talihina Roundup Club, Lions Club member, Talihina Chamber of commerce member, Talihina Housing Authority Board member and past manager, former Oklahoma Highway Patrolman, ran Brown's Baker for a number of years, and had retired as the postmaster at Talihina. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth GRIFFITH BROWN, on October 29, 1974. Graveside services were held October 16 at the New Talihina Cemetery with Rev. Scott Stimsom officiating. He had lived in Wilburton for 60 years. He was preceded in death by his wife Ellen Pearl MOORE. He was a WWII U.S Army veteran and a member of the Baptist faith. VOLK, 83 of Red Oak, died November 1, 1993 at Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She was born October 2, 1910 at Red Oak. She was a homemaker. Services were held November 3 at Rock Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Wilson officiating. Burial was at Rock Creek Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home. WALL - November 4, 1993 Edwin Alexander WALL, Sr., 87 of Albion, died October 30, 1993 at the Choctaw Nation Indian Hospital in Talihina. He was born June 21, 1906 at Albion to Tandy and Phoebe BOHANNON WALL. He was a lifetime resident of the albion area where he was a member of the Church of Christ. He married Lille LAWSON at Poteau. He was a farmer/rancher and retired in 1971 from employment with the state of Oklahoma at the Eastern Oklahoma State Sanatorium at Talihina. He had also helped to build the Indian Hospital when it was constructed. Services were held November 1 at Albion First Baptist church with Rev. Larry Bray and Billy Jack Hicks officiating. Burial was at Albion Cemetery under the direction of Drake-Jones Funeral Home. JONES - November 4, 1993 Earnest JONES, 49 of Yanush, died October 25, 1993 at Oklahoma City. he was born August 9, 1944 in Oklahoma City to Elbert and Mary BRYANT JONES. He married Janet DILL on June 18, 1991 in Los Vegas, Nevada. Graveside services were held October 28 at Cupco Cemetery with Rev. Eugene Brown officiating. WILLIAMS - Clayton Man Found Dead At His Home - December 30, 1993 The Pushmataha County Sheriff's Office and Clayton Police Department investigated an unattended death at the Sardis Trail Apartments in Clayton on December 27. Benny Earl "Bud" WILLIAMS, Jr., a 56-year-old Clayton resident, was found dead in his apartment. According to the medical examiner, he died of natural causes. Mr. WILLIAMS was last seen December 24. A relative contacted authorities when he did not answer his telephone. DOUGLAS - December 30, 1993 Kathryn Donna DOUGLAS, 43 of Clayton, died December 24, 1993 at Antlers. She was born July 8, 1950 at OK City to Albert and Pauline BOONE. She married Alton DOUGLAS May 4, 1979 at Clayton. Services were held December 28 at the Clayton School auditorium with Brent Powell and Monty Sharp officiating. Burial was at the A.L. Stephen Cemetery under the direction of Clayton Funeral Home. SOKOLOSKY - December 30, 1993 John Paul SOKOLOSKY, Sr., 72 of Wilburton, died December 23, 1993 at his home. He was born May 16, 1921 at Wilburton. He married Lois TAYLOR March 27, 1947 at Wilburton. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Domonic SOKOLOSKY and Michaelini NOSOK SOKOLOSKY, and a brother, Vicktor SOKOLOSKY.
