Contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Teresa Young November 4, 2001 ************************************************************************ "Push County Times", October 2, 2001, Page 6 HAROLD ROBERSON SERVICES HELD Harold Roberson was born January 29, 1914 in Darwin, Oklahoma and passed away on September 22, 2001 in Paris, Texas at the age of 87 years. Mr. Roberson has lived in this area all his life and retired from the U. S. Postal Service after 33 years of service where he worked as Assistant Postmaster. In his early years, Mr. Roberson attended school at Sugarloaf and graduated from Moyers. He then attended Southeaster Oklahoma State. He taught school for a time in Lively, Oklahoma and then went on to serve his country during World War II in the U. S. Army from 1941 to 1943. Mr. Roberson married Lueda Labor on June 4, 1941 in El Reno, Oklahoma. They have been together for over 60 years and have 2 children, Harolyn and Ellis. Mr. Roberson is a longtime member of the Antlers First Presbyterian Church. He also served on the City Council and was City Mayor for a time. Other memberships include the Chamber of Commerce, Historical Society, American Legion, Salvation Army, N.A.R.F.E. and the A.A.R.P. His leisure time was spent fishing, playing dominoes and checkers, watching sports and working outdoors on his yard and lawn of which he was very proud. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife: Lueda of the home; daughter: Harolyn Mallett of Arkansas Pass, Texas; Son: Ellis II Roberson of Coffeyville, Kansas; brother: Merrill Roberson of Norman, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren: Brad Harold Mallett of Claremore, Oklahoma; Shelley Mallett of Rockport, Texas; Rodney Mallett of Antlers, Oklahoma; Tomas E. Roberson of Wichita, Kansas; and 2 great grandchildren: Crystal Mallett and T. J. Roberson as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Robert Howard Roberson and Lillie G. Finley Roberson; brothers: Wallace Roberson and Curtis Roberson; and sister: Opal Roberson Thompson. Funeral services were held on September 25, 2001 at 2:30 p.m. at the Antlers First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Patricia Bustle and Reverend Doyle Lawless officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Jerry Harmon, Dino Vela, Gary Roberson, Bob Pickard, Roy Earl Jackson, Billy Alec Jackson and Mike Vaught. Honorary pallbearers included: Joe Stamper, W. J. Baggett, Max Nicholas, Jim Stone, Dean Hale, Bob Frank, Jerry Roberson, R. E. Thompson, Johnny Jones, Danny Roberson, and Jimmy Roberson. Burial took place at the Antlers City Cemetery under the direction of Mills-Coffey Funeral Home of Antlers, Oklahoma. Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation at the First Presbyterian Church. -------------------------------------
