Contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Teresa Young October 14, 2001 ************************************************************************ "Push County Times", August 7, 2001, Page 5 CARL "NUBBIN" SHAW SERVICES HELD Carl "Nubbin" Shaw was born on August 17, 1915 in Ward Springs, Oklahoma, Pittsburg County and passed away on July 17, 2001 in Antlers, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years. Mr. Shaw was a lifelong resident of the Jumbo and Redden Community areas. He married Mary Sue Hampton on February 23, 1946 at Sherman, Texas. Mr. Shaw had attended school in the Florence and North Nelson Community in his early years, played shortstop for Jumbo's and Redden's baseball teams and still loves baseball. He was an Atlanta Braves fan. Nubbin loved his ranching...a cow's bawling was must to his ears. He enjoyed outdoors, hunting and fishing and old fashioned county-dances. He was particularly fond of the time spend and his escapades with his friends and especially with friends Dub Napier and Roy Brents. He is survived by his wife Mary Sue Shaw of the home in Daisy, Oklahoma; 1 son: Gary Shaw and wife Dottie of Antlers, Oklahoma; 1 daughter: Carla Shaw of Grove, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren: Angela Tyler and husband Daniel of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; Bradley Burtch of Antlers and Eric and Cullen Shaw, both of Antlers, Oklahoma; 2 great-grandchildren: Bailey and Zackery Tyler, both of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; 1 brother: Wren Shaw of Antlers, Oklahoma; 3 sisters: Leona Brents of Coweta, Oklahoma; Cleoria Shaw of Antlers, Oklahoma; Theda Walling and husband Herold of Ft. Worth, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Shaw was preceded in death by his parents: George Franklin and Ada L. Shaw. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 19, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at the Antlers Church of Christ with Jim Kellogg and John Fugate officiating. Pallbearers included Gene Moore, Orval Lewis, Donnie Baker, Derrel Epperly, Johnny Littlejohn, and Jason Baker. Final resting place was Redden Cemetery. By Mills-Coffey Funeral Home of Antlers, Okla.
