SAFFELL SERVICES HELD Antlers resident, Samuel B. Saffell passed away on Monday, July 2, 2001 in Antlers, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years. Mr. Saffell was born on December 4, 1928 in Clarendon, Arkansas the son of Ira and Ivy "Wallace" Saffell. He worked as a barge operator for many years on the Washita and Mississippi Rivers. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He moved to the Antlers area about 12 years ago. He married Nettie Juanita Farris of Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1950, she preceded in death in 1965. He was also preceded in death by one son: Zachary Saffell in 1972. Mr. Saffell is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Arthur and Linda Saffell of Antlers, Okla.; his son and daughter-in-law: Don and Sharon Saffell of Taft, California; and son: Robert Saffell of Mesa, Arizona; 1 daughter: Mary Ruth Saffell; his mother: Ivy Stortz of Forest City, Arizona and 3 brothers: Gene Saffell of San Diego, California; Charles Parmley of Clarendon, Arizona; and David Parmley of Arkansas; 1 sister-in-law: Ilse Saffell of Tyler, Texas; 1 sister: Emma Hopkins of Forest City, Arizona; 9 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Friday, July 6, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mt. Olive Funeral Home of Antlers, Oklahoma. Burial was held at the Hall Cemetery under the direction of Mt. Olive Funeral Home located at 204 West Main in Antlers, Oklahoma. _________________________________________________________________
