Mary Ruth Southerland

Mary Ruth Southerland, 71, of Amarillo, died Saturday, May 16, 1998.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Blackburn-
Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce St. 
Private services will be at a later date. Private burial will be in Memory 
Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Southerland was born in Antlers, Okla., and moved to Amarillo 35 
years ago. She was employed by Ansley Cleaners and Colberts and Dillards 
department stores as a seamstress.

She married Andrew Southerland in 1942 at Memphis.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Shirley Nussabaum of Old 
Monroe, Mo., and Ruby Lummus and Peggy Mathes, both of Amarillo; four 
sisters, Joyce Allen of Canyon, Lois Ewing of Amarillo, Maurine Rasco of 
Childress and Patsy Garrett of Carroll; two brothers, Vaudie Holbert of 
Floydada and Martin Holbert of Houston; six grandchildren; and nine great-
grandchildren.
