Mr. Self was born March 28, 1907 in Hugo, Oklahoma the son of Charlie and Erie "Byrd" Self. He had lived in the Cloudy area nearly all his life. He married Julia Cousins on January 7, 1933 in Cloudy, Oklahoma. He worked as a rancher and was a member of the Cloudy Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, one sister and one grandson. He is survived by his wife: Julia Self of Antlers, Oklahoma; four sons and daughters-in-law: Jearl and Dianna Self of Antlers, Oklahoma; Kennard and Doris Self; Vernon and Francis Self; Johnny and Marcia Self all of Cloudy, Oklahoma; one daughter and son-in-law: Dolly and Delbert Henderson of Newalla, Oklahoma; one sister: Mart Wirt of Ardmore, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 23, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Rattan, Oklahoma with Reverend Sam Pound and Reverend Kent Jensen officiating. He was laid to rest at the Rattan Cemetery under the direction of Mt. Olive Funeral Home in Antlers, Oklahoma. ______________________________________
