Mr. Sanders has been a resident of Antlers for the past 3 years, coming from Lawton, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Antlers First Baptist Church and an Air Force veteran of WWII. He was a retired superintendent at Quartz Mountain State Park and as a rural mail carrier for the U. S. Postal Service. His favorite past times was watching sports, he was an avid Oklahoma University fan. He is survived by 1 son: Danny Sanders of Lone Wolf, Oklahoma; 1 sister: Marie Nelson of Antlers, Oklahoma; 1 sister-in-law: Pat Sanders of Antlers, Oklahoma; and 1 grandson: Jason Sanders of Lone Wolf, Oklahoma as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife: Nancy; 3 brothers: Barney, Cecil, and Altus Sanders; and 1 sister: Jerry White. Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 13, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mills & Coffey Chapel with Donny Day officiating. Serving as pallbearers were the Sunday School class of Les Looney, Roy Earl Jackson, Ed Harper, James Day and Billy Henry. Burial was held at the Antlers City Cemetery under the direction of Mills-Coffey Funeral Home in Antlers, Oklahoma. -------------------------------------
