Zula was Senior Interviewer for Oklahoma Employment Security Commission and enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. She is survived by her husband: Roy Smallwood of the home; son: Roy (Mike) Smallwood and wife Jane of Rattan, Oklahoma; daughter: Peggy Lawless and husband Larry; brothers-in-law: Leo Smallwood and wife Jane of Rattan, Oklahoma; Gilbert Smallwood and wife Anna Florance of Rattan, Oklahoma; sister-in-law: Ann Smallwood; aunt: Gracie Borba of Haywood, California; 2 grandchildren: Christopher Lawless of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Adam Lawless of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; nephews: Steve, Eddie, Mark, Dusty, Gary, and Billy Smallwood: nieces: Liz Joslin, Deborah, Steffie O'Dell, Leah Beth Edwards, Nancy Rose and Gayle Johnson. Mrs. Smallwood was preceded in death by her parents: John Henry Halley and Mildred "Mittie" (Anderson-Halley) Matthews and 1 sister: Mildred Celest Goff. Funeral services were held: Saturday, February 24, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Rattan with Reverend Sam Pace and Reverend J. W. Ray officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Chris Gibbs, Russell Baze, Loyd Denton, Wilbur Deaton, Harrison Steward, Steve Crawford, Pee Wee Fleming, and Marvin Farris. Honorary pallbearers included: Royce Weisner, Matthew Green, Billy Glass, Bruce Frazier, and Jess Pierce, Jr. Burial was held at the Antlers City Cemtery under the direction of Mills & Coffey Funeral Home.
