Contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Teresa Young April 10, 2002 ************************************************************************ "Push County Times", February 12, 2002, Page 5 BESSIE MAE (NELSON) SHARP SERVICES HELD Bessie Mae (Nelson) Sharp was born on May 12, 1907 in Boswell, Oklahoma and passed away on January 25, 2002 in Antlers, Oklahoma at the age of 94 years. Mrs. Sharp was a life-long resident of Antlers. She attended school in Boswell, Indian Territory. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and was strong in her faith. Mrs. Sharp enjoyed needle work, quilting, playing keyboard, reading, and gospel singing and took Choctaw language classes when she was 93 and attended many Choctaw tribal activities. She was very proud of her heritage. She is survived by her daughter: Betty Jean Sharp Knapp of Springfield, Illinois; 3 grandchildren: Deborah Knapp-Dornblaser, Carl Knapp, and John Knapp; 5 great-grandchildren: Sharri Knapp, Emily Knapp, Ted Radtke, Brittany Bares and Brad Bares; 1 great-great grandchildren: Teddy Radtke; 3 nieces and 2 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Alice (Crowder) Nelson and her husband Cecil Everett Sharp. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 28, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Mills-Coffey Chapel with Reverend Patricia Bustle officiating. Serving as pallbearer were: Gene Holloway, Terry Nelson, Larry Nelson, Charles Uhles, Robert Moore, and Lindsey Fewell. She was laid to rest at Oddfellows Cemetery under the direction of Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Antlers, Oklahoma. _____________________________________
