The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Source: November 23, 1967 ----------------------------------------------------------------- Services for Mattie Belle THOMPSON, one of Pushmataha county's oldest residents, were conducted from the Assembly of God Church in Clayton at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 22, withe the pastor of the church officiating. Burial was in the Old Clayton cemetery under direction of Coffey Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Billy THOMPSON, Lloyd CATHER, Dillard CATHER, James CATHER, Bill DUNN, H.A. McCANDLESS and Donnie THOMPSON. Honorary bearers were Asa DENNIS, Buck DENNIS, James PROTHO, Bill BURNETT, Wharton MATHIES and Charles ALEXANDER. Mrs. THOMPSON died at her home in Clayton early Monday morning, November 20. She was 93 years of age, having been born at Honey Grove, Texas, July 11, 1875. She had lived in the Clayton community virtually all of her life and was a member of the Assembly of God church. Survivors include one son, Joe E. THOMPSON, Okmulgee, six daughters, Cora PARKER, Fort Smith, Ark., Evelyn BOATRIGHT, Fort Smith; Nola McCANDLESS, Mena, Arkansas; Nora HARRISON, Texas City, Texas; Myrtle COSSEY, Clayton, and Helen CATHER, Antlers, and three grandchildren.
