UNDERWOOD SERVICES HELD Lawrence H. Underwood was born on August 12, 1911 in Monet, Missouri and passed away on August 13, 2001 in Antlers, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years. Mr. Underwood has lived in the Ethel Community for the past 58 years. He worked for the Antlers Public School system as custodian, retired in 1973. His favorite past times included playing music and fishing. He loved mechanical work and enjoyed working and tinkering on a variety of things. If it was broke, he could fix it. He leaves behind to cherish his memory 1 son: Ernest Underwood of Antlers, Oklahoma; 3 daughters: Ellen Taylor of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Miami Jones of Antlers, Oklahoma; and Margie Tompkins of Antlers, Oklahoma. 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: William A. and Una Ann Underwood; his wife: Millie Underwood; 2 brothers: Albert and Puritan Underwood; 3 sisters: Mable M. Souls, Anna Barnes and Fleda Baggett. Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 17, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at the New Life Assembly of God Church with Reverend Andy Reed officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Chad Underwood, Jamie Underwood, Brady Underwood, Clinton Underwood, Marshall Underwood, Steven Underwood, Mitchell Tompkins and Cliff Taylor. Burial was at the Kosoma Cemetery under the direction of Mills-Coffey Funeral Home in Antlers, Oklahoma.
