Contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Teresa Young October 14, 2001 ************************************************************************ "Antlers American", November 1970 RATTAN SERVICES CONDUCTED FOR ASHLEY WILLIAMS Funeral services for Ashley Williams, 88, of Rattan were held Saturday, November 14, 1970 at 3:30 p.m. in the Rattan Church of Christ with A. L. Rhodes officiating. Williams was born June 7, 1882 in Lawrence County, Arkansas, and died November 12, 1970 in the Pushmataha Hospital in Antlers. He had lived in the Rattan Community some 51 years. He is survived by his wife, Sadie of the home; one daughter: Mrs. Sallie Maynard of Finley; one sister: Mrs. Roxie Gartermiller of Rattan; one half-brother: Jim Williams of Mena, Arkansas; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Pallbearers were Angelo Gibson, Curtis Tabor, Horney Birchfield, Harry Hill, Douglas Taylor and O. C. Smith. Honorary pallbearers were: Clifford Price, Quince Bicknell, R. H. Gibson and Van Dendy. Interment was in the Rattan Cemetery under the direction of Coffey Funeral Home of Antlers.
