Mary below is the daughter of Lew Mabry & Kathleen Savage and granddaughter of Eugene Bernard & Mary Virginia (Mabry) Savage. The Hammon Advocate, Thursday, March 13, 1958, pg 1 A KISS FROM ELVIS! – Mary Savage, 14, visiting here from Oklahoma City, got an autograph AND A KISS from Elvis Presley when the entertainer stopped here briefly Saturday. At the foot of the train steps is Ken Moore, Fort Worth associate of Presley. The above picture of Mary Martha Savage, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lew Savage, Oklahoma City, was taken with Elvis Presley during a stop over in Fort Worth, Texas, a few weeks ago. The picture appeared in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram at that time. Mary Martha is reported to be getting along fine, and expects to undergo one more corrective surgery about May 15, which will be her fourteenth operation. Elvis picked Mary Martha from a crowd of screaming "teenagers," and being unaware of her past polio until she tried to get up the steps of the train, is an outstanding proof of how successful her thirteen corrective operations have been. She suffered polio in 1949. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Roger Mills Archives http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/rogermills/rogermills.html
