The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ====================================================================== Grace Opal Askew was born April 16, 1908 in Webb City, Arkansas to Mary Lucinda Barham and Arthur Lee Young. She passed away February 19, 2001 in Plainview, Texas as the age of 92 years 10 months and 3 days. Grace grew up in near Ozark, Arkansas and moved with her family to Washita County, Oklahoma in 1927. She married Douglas W. Askew at Cordell, Oklahoma on December 8, 1928 and they moved to Colony before moving to the Burns Flat/Dill City area where they farmed. They remained in Washita County until moving to Elk City in 1979. Grace had recently moved to Plainview, Texas to be near her daughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters, and two brothers. Services were held Thursday, February 22, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at the Whinery- Savage Chapel, officiated by Rev. Lloyd Hall. Burial was at the Lawnview Cemetery, Cordell, Washita County, Oklahoma under the direction of Whinery- Savage Funeral Service. Survvivors include: two daughters, Ruby Morgan of Plainview, Texas and Norma Olsen of Dallas, Texas; four sisters, Mattie Sullivan of Bethany, Oklahoma; Hazel Carpenter of Elk City, Oklahoma; Pauline Coley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Lilian Goff of Bethany, Oklahoma; one brother Tom Young of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; and a sister-in- law, Frances Lanier of Argonia, Kansas.
