All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Red Hill Cemetery--Hammon OK Mrs. Velma Lee Ackley Funeral services for Mrs. Velma Lee Ackley, 66, of Hammon, Roger Mills County, OK were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, 1982. Services were at the First Baptist Church of Hammon officated by Rev. Bart Montgomery of the Highland Baptist Church of Albuquerque, N.M. and assisted by Rev. J.C. Neil of the First Baptist Church of Hammon. Mrs. Ackley died very unexpectedly Saturday, July 31, 1982 at Hillcrest Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. Velma Lee was born near Kiowa, OK Oct. 29, 1915 and attended Kiowa Country School and gew to womanhood in that area. She was married to the late Emery C. Ackley on July 12, 1936 in Strong City, OK. The couple made their home in Hammon, OK area and raised their four chilldren there. Mrs. Ackley cooked for the Hammon Public Schools for many years and was employed there at the time of her death. Mrs. Ackley was a very faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Hammon and attended to the Church nursery for several years. She was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge #261 of Butler. Burial was in the Red Hill Cemetery south of Hammon, OK, Roger Mills County under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home of Clinton, OK. Survivors include three daughers: Mrs. Doyle (Floretta Joe) Seright, Oklahoma City, OK; Mrs. Leon (Mary Katherine) Gilliland, Cheyenne, OK; Mrs. Sidney (Seb) (Alta Ann) Bergeron, Gray, LA; one son: James Theordore (J.T.) Ackley, Sayre, OK; one sister: Mrs. Kattie B. Ackley (Keirsey), Live Oak, CA She is also survived by six grandchildren: Katherine Ann Dearman, Oklahoma City, OK; David Andrew Seright, Oklahoma City, OK; Leanonna Kaye Gilliland, Cheyenne, OK; Jodie Michelle Ackley, Sayre, OK; Kristy Lynn Ackley, Sayre, OK; Dustin Paul Bergeron, Gray, LA; two step grandchildren: Charles Ross Gilliland, Tulsla, OK; Suzie Gilliand Conley, Oklahoma City, OK; two step great grandchildren: Angie Gilliland, KS; Brandy Conley, Oklahoma City, OK Memorial Contributions may be made to the Diebetic Fund of Oklahoma Medical Researh Foundation
