Ackley were conducted Sunday, April 27, 1958 at 2:30 p.m. in the Hammon School auditorium. Bill Trent and Paul Evans were the officiating ministers. Reed Dean Ackley, son of J.T. and Flora Ackley, was born August 7, 1905 at Hammon, Oklahoma, and departeds this life in an Elk City hospital April 125, 1958 at the age of 52 years 8 months and 19 days. He was married to Miss Frances Hensley at Cheyenne, Oklahoma, July 12, 1924, and to this union were born three daughters, two of whom, with his wife, Frances, survive him. They are June Ackley of the home address, and Joan Tomberlin, Midwest City, Oklahoma. He is also survived by two grandsons, Mike and David Tomberlin, and a son-in-law, Leon Tomberlin, Midwest City, and Louise Turtle, who has been with his family the past three years; four brothers, including Buford Ackley, Hammon, Oklahoma, and one sister. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Jean, in 1929, his parents and two brothers. Reed was a resident of the Hammon community most of his life, and at the time of his death he and his family were residing on his farm, where he was born and reared. He leaves behind his loved ones and a host of friends, and loving memories of the good deeds he has done for those in need. We can not say, we will not say, that he is dead, he is just away. With a cheery smile and the wave of his hands; he has wandered into an unknown land. He was laid to rest in the Red Hill cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma, beside his infant daughter.
