She was the daaughter of Edgaar and Emma Jane Simpson. Her father passed away when she was three weeks old, her mother when she was six years old. Her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Ratt took her into their home. They moved to Cloud Chief, Oklahoma when she was a small girl where she lived until she married. She was united in marriage, May 18, 1904 at Cordell, Oklahoma to Calvin W. Atha. They moved to Sweetwater, Oklahoma and she lived in Roger Mills County the rest of her life. To this union seven children were born, five daughters, Mrs. Vivian Barker of Reydon, Myrtle Thompson of Wellington, Kansas, Lois Barker of Durham, hazel McEntire of Reydon, and two sons Charles Rex Atha, Grimes, and Calvin W. Atha, Jr., Grimes. she had eleven grandchildren. Her husband and one daughter preceded her in death. She was a life-long member of the Methodist Church. She passed awayn December 16, 1958 at Reydon. The funeraal services were held December 18, 1958 at the Sunny Point community building with Rev. Lynn Heard and Rev. W.S. Little officiating. Interment was in Brookside cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Pall bearers were R.N. Webster, J.O. Yell, George Bryan, E.R. Brewer, Hale Thompson and Harvey Bartz. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, Ok
