Atwood, postmaster, at Berlin committed sucide at his home in Berlin last Monday morning March 31, 1913. From reports Mrs. Atwood deserted the deceased on Sunday and returned to the Atwood home, when Mr. Atwood called at the house and tried in vain to bring about a reconcillation when he left the house and while on the porch shot himself in heart with a 38 calibre revolver. Mr. Atwood was a man who was always in good spirits and his despondency and rash act was a surprise to all. He had been a resident of Berlin for a long time having been manager of the Cooperative store at that place, but was doing business for himself at the time of his death. The funeral ceremony was conducted by the Odd Fellows lodge at that place, of which he was a member last Tuesday. Which was witnessed by the largest crowd of mourners ever assembled at a cemetery in this county. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK 3-Apr-1913
