The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ==================================================================== Surnames: Atwood, Turbyfill, Gilliland, Byler Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, August 9, 1942, in the Luther Turbyfill home for Charles Atwood, pioneer resident of the Grimes community. Burial was in the Dempsey cemetery, Dempsey, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Charles Franklin Atwood was born at Sonora, Kentucky, October 3, 1872. He departed this life on August 8, 1942, age 69 years, 10 months and 5 days. In 1879 he moved to Cass County, Mo., with his parents and in October, 1901, he came to Roger Mills County, where he resided until his death. His mother preceded him in death in 1905 and his father passed away in 1925. He has lived with his brother, I.W. Atwood, on their farm in the Dempsey community since coming to Roger Mills county. One other brother, James Atwood, lives at Wardell, Mo. Mrs. Eva Gilliland, of Strong City, and Mrs. Ermine Turbyfill, sisters, were both present for the funeral services. Also Dave Byler, a nephew, and other relatives and many friends were present to pay their last respects to thei neighbor of many years.
